Following today’s meeting with the contractor VolkerLaser to review their progress in completing on-site preparations for the resurfacing project, it has been agreed to postpone the start of work for a further week.
The situation will be subject to a further review in the middle of next week when an agreement will be reached on a new start date for the project.
This means that the South and North Cantilevers, and all three lanes on the main deck, will continue to remain open to traffic. The introduction of the shuttle bus services will also be postponed.
VolkerLaser are working very hard to complete the final preparations so that work can begin as soon as possible. However the complex nature of the project, with each stage following on from the previous one, means that it is essential for all elements to be in place before work starts on site.
The postponement will not affect the date for completing the scheme in September
