What is the TamarTag?

The TamarTag is name of the pre-paid Electronic Tolling System for the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry Crossings, offering its users a 50% discount on the toll.

The system uses electronic devices (tags) fitted to vehicles to allow tolling without physical payment using cash or card, provided there is credit on your account.

The tag is a small electronic device fitted on the inside of the vehicle windscreen which is read either by roadside equipment at the Bridge or by a handheld reader at the Ferry. You can use any Lane at the bridge or any of the ferries.

Tag users are required to set up a pre-paid account and each time a tolled crossing is made, the appropriate amount is deducted from the account and the transaction recorded.
