Planned Multi-Agency Emergency Training Exercise at the Tamar Bridge
Tamar Crossings, alongside National Highways and emergency service partners, will be undertaking a planned multi-agency emergency training exercise at the Tamar Bridge on Tuesday 8th September, starting at 19:30hrs. The exercise is expected to last approximately two to three hours and forms part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and supporting emergency preparedness.
Why the Exercise is Taking Place on the Tamar Bridge
The Tamar Bridge is a strategically important transport link with unique characteristics and traffic movements that cannot be fully replicated elsewhere.
Carrying out the exercise on the bridge allows participating organisations to assess how emergency arrangements would work in practice, helping to ensure plans remain effective and fit for purpose should they ever be needed.
What Tamar Bridge Users Can Expect
The Tamar Bridge will remain open throughout the exercise, with arrangements in place to maintain access for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
While every effort has been made to minimise disruption, some delays may occur and users may experience temporary traffic management measures or changes to normal routes while the exercise takes place.
Bridge users are asked to follow all signs, signals and instructions throughout the exercise to help ensure its safe and effective delivery.
Members of the public who see emergency service activity on or around the Tamar Bridge during the evening of Tuesday 8th September should not be alarmed, as this forms part of a planned and controlled training exercise. Appropriate safety measures will be in place throughout the exercise, and all activity will be carefully managed by the organisations involved.
