Dominic joined Tamar Crossings as an Engineering Apprentice after deciding to pursue a long-held ambition of building a career in engineering.
Throughout his apprenticeship, Dominic combined college learning with practical workplace experience, developing skills across mechanical and electrical engineering while working alongside experienced colleagues on the Torpoint Ferry and its associated infrastructure.
Today, Dominic is a permanent member of the engineering team, helping to maintain one of the region's most important transport links and demonstrating how an apprenticeship can become the foundation for a long-term career.
Engineering Apprenticeship
Our Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop practical engineering skills while working on the Torpoint Ferry and its associated infrastructure.
Delivered in partnership with City College Plymouth, the programme combines classroom learning with hands-on experience, helping apprentices build the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for a career in engineering.

- Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship
- 48-month programme
- Delivered in partnership with City College Plymouth
- Applicants must be aged 18+
Megan joined Tamar Crossings as a Business Administration Apprentice in 2017 and has been part of the team ever since.
During her apprenticeship, Megan completed both Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications while gaining valuable workplace experience across the organisation. The combination of professional training, practical experience and support from colleagues enabled her to develop new skills, build confidence and achieve a distinction in her qualification.
Today, Megan continues to develop her career within Tamar Crossings, demonstrating the long-term opportunities that an apprenticeship can provide.
Business Administration Apprenticeship
Our Business Administration Apprenticeship provides an excellent introduction to the workplace, combining recognised qualifications with practical experience across a range of business functions.
Apprentices work alongside experienced colleagues, developing valuable organisational, communication and administrative skills in a supportive environment.
Programme Details
- Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship
- 12-15 month programme
- 20% off-the-job training
- Applicants must be aged 16+
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) preferred
