Ferry Operations Manager

Grade I - Salary range £37,121 to £41,608 per annum based on 40 hours per week.

The Torpoint Ferry delivers an important public service to join Plymouth with the Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall. The service operates up to 3 ferries at any one time, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is the busiest estuarial ferry crossing in the UK, carrying approximately 2.4 million vehicles per year.

We are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to join us in this dynamic environment. This is an exciting time to join Torpoint Ferry as we are investing significant resources to modernise and improve the ferries, the infrastructure, and the overall service. You will play a key part in developing and delivering the service improvement initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate:

· A problem solver who thinks and acts quickly to resolve operational problems

· Able to make processes and resources work to achieve results

· A really good communicator

· Able to juggle priorities, meet deadlines and perform well under pressure

· A confident manager with good leadership skills.

Previous experience in a similar role will be advantageous, but it is not essential as we are much more interested in finding the right person with the right qualities. However, you will need to have well developed IT skills and a qualification in IT, Logistics, Transport, or Business Management. You must also have had previous experience of managing people and services and be able to work on your own initiative.
