Could TamarTag units be replaced with printable barcodes that can be scanned?

Our long-term ambition is to move to Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.

Because of this, we would not want to invest significant funds into developing a completely different interim system. However, alternative ideas such as this can still be useful to explore as part of our long-term planning.
