Can there be a concession for locals that use it all the time?

We recognise that many local residents rely on the crossings every day.

The TamarTag scheme is designed to provide that concession, offering 50% off the standard toll price. While the scheme is available to everyone, it is particularly beneficial for people who cross frequently, such as local residents and commuters.

Introducing a scheme that is free only for “local residents” would be extremely complex to administer. Defining the boundaries of who qualifies and enforcing it fairly would be difficult, and limiting charges only to occasional non-local visitors would not generate enough income to maintain and operate the crossings safely.
