Tamar Crossings supports NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day event in Torpoint

Tamar Crossings was honoured to take part in the NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day event held at Torpoint yesterday.

Staff member Andy Cannon represented Tamar Crossings at the special ceremony at Sparrow Park which celebrated the work of the frontline workers who have helped our country through the coronavirus pandemic and who continue to support some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Hosted by Torpoint Mayor Councillor Rachel Evans BEM, who raised the NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day Flag, the event saw Town Councillors, children from Carbeile Junior School and Torpoint Nursery & Infant School, representatives from The Rame Group Practice, and the Torpoint Archives and Heritage Centre and Honorary Freeman of Torpoint Mike Pearn MBE joined by local residents to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of frontline workers.

Speaking at the event Councillor Evans said “We have many residents in our town who work for the NHS in many different guises from porters to consultants, ambulance teams to nurses, they have all done an amazing job keeping us safe. We absolutely must not forget our social care and other frontline workers.

“Our frontline workers come in many guises, some may not immediately spring to the forefront of your mind, our shop workers’, teachers’, community fire service, ferry men and women, council staff, refuge workers’, postal and delivery teams, have all played an enormous part, not just in the last 18 months, but always in allowing us to go about our day to day life – we simply could not do without you all. “

We completely agree and were delighted to have the opportunity to thank everyone who has worked so hard to keep us safe.
