Public Consultation 2018 - Funding the Crossings

Tamar Bridge & Torpoint Ferry Joint Committee is undertaking a public consultation on the financing of the two crossings.

The current toll levels at the Bridge and Ferry were set in March 2010, and since that time as a result of inflation, increased maintenance and investment in a range of improvement projects, the costs of running the two crossings has increased significantly. However traffic growth has been relatively slow and we have reached a position where costs now exceed income and this is not a sustainable position. More income will be required from Summer 2019 to support the continued safe and reliable operation of both crossings. However, we want to ensure that the views of customers and other stakeholders are taken into account when decisions are made about how we might change the pricing structure.

We are undertaking a consultation exercise involving those that use the crossings on two representative days of 7th July 2018 & 10th July 2018. We will also be contacting other key stakeholders like Highways England.
